Sparkle Nails!!

This combo has me mesmerized!  I just love it!

This is one coat of Rimmel Lasting Finish Polish in Black Satin (430) layered with one coat of Wet N Wild Born into Privilege from their Be Jeweled collection.

And just in case you missed that, let’s review:  ONE COAT!!!  Yes, that glitter polish is really all that and a bag of chips!

These Be Jeweled Wet N Wild polishes came out this past spring and are just beautiful!  I featured The Crown is Mine from this same collection in this post.  They don’t seem to be easy to find anymore, though so check your drugstores or eBay if you are looking for them.

Review: Hard Candy 1,000 Lashes – Fiberized Lash Weave Mascara

Hard Candy Lash Weave MascaraThis is the first Hard Candy product that I have tried.  Hard Candy is a brand that is only available at Wal-Mart and is known for fun products with unique packaging.

My hubby was on the hunt for yard equipment and decided he wanted to check Wal-Mart.  As we made our way through the mega store in search of said yard equipment, we somehow passed the cosmetics section.  And “someone” may have gotten sidetracked.   And by “someone”, I mean me.  Who would’ve guessed, right??  I’m like a kid in a candy store every time I go through the cosmetics section of any store!

EVERY.  TIME.

My sweet husband is very patient with me and has learned to just keep going and leave me to my “candy” and keep going with his shopping.  He knows I’ll come back when I’m done.  And if I don’t it usually means I’m still there.  haha!

So once in the cosmetics section, I bee-lined for Hard Candy and happily started to examine the products.  I finally settled on trying this mascara.  I love trying new mascaras!!  I was immediately drawn to the color Mermaid Teal and was also intrigued by the term “Lash Weave”.  What was that going to mean??

Pros:

  • fabulous color
  • fun packaging
  • affordable

Cons:

  • no volume
  • no length
  • does not stick to lashes

Conclusion:Hard Candy Lash Weave Mascara

This mascara comes in what looks like a squeeze tube, but once you take it out of the box, the tube is actually hard, just like your standard mascara tube, just crimped at the end.  I wish I could show you the picture of it that I took, but my computer is being finicky and won’t load it.  :-/

So how does the mysterious “Lash Weave” perform?  Well, I can’t really say. This mascara literally just slipped off my lashes.  I could see the beautiful teal fibers on the brush, but they wouldn’t stay on my lashes.  No matter how many times I swiped, they just slid right off.  I tried waiting a few minutes and re-applying to see if it would build up layers.  No.  I even tried layering this on top of other mascaras, to see if that would help it stick.  But no.  No matter what I tried, It would not stay on my lashes at all.  I have never had a mascara do something like that before.

This product was a total regret purchase for me.  😦

Have you tried anything from Hard Candy?  What was your experience?  Do you have any recommendations?

Orange Nails!!

So after this color explosion on my eyelids, I moved to my nails.

This is two coats of Nicole by OPI Fresh Squeezed topped with one coat of Maybelline Colorama Topcoat in Sonic Sunrise.

Both of these polishes were purchased a while back.  Fresh Squeezed was purchased at Target and I found Sonic Sunrise at Big Lots for $1!  Yay!

Here’s you can see the flakies in Sonic Sunrise a little better.

Finally!  My craving for color has been satisfied!  haha!

Do you ever feel like you just have to break out of a rut?

Fun & Colorful Eyeshadow Look

Some days a girl just needs some color.

This was one of those days!

This was done with mineral eyeshadows.  I love how easily they blend!  And look at how vibrant the colors are!

I used these eyeshadow samples that I purchased from the All Natural Face:

Then I used the pressed eyeshadow duo in Vanilla/Mocha from Real Purity as a brow bone highlight and to fill in my brows.

I used the Onyx gel eyeliner from Pixi.

And threw on a couple of coats of L’Oreal False Fiber Mascara.

So was my color craving satisfied?

Nope.  Next came my nails.

Stay tuned for that!

Nail Files: Bare All Tag

I first saw this tag on Mae’s Beauty Reports and knew I had to jump in!

This tag was started by girlintheglasses.  Here’s her original post:

Many of us love our pretty polished fingers, me included, but what about the natural nails that lurk beneath the enamel?  They just don’t get much attention unless we’re prepping them for yet another coat of a lovely lacquer of our choice.  I feel it’s time to strip the polish and bare all in a show of solidarity ladies!  At least long enough to snap a photo and answer a few questions, I’m not a monster after all.  So please join me, show your naturally beautiful nails and share some information about them and the products you prefer to pamper them with.”

Fireworks Nails!

Two nail posts in a row!  I hope you don’t mind, but with it being the 4th of July and all, I just couldn’t resist.

I first saw this design earlier this week on C to C Friendspirations blog and immediately knew I had to try it for myself.

I didn’t have the exact polishes used, so I just worked with what I have.

I should mention that I am not a nail-art-extraordinaire by any means, but this looked easy enough even for a rookie like me.

This is one coat of Sally Hansen Glass Slipper as a base.  With Revlon Frankly Scarlet for the red stripes, Sally Hansen Through the Blue for the blue stripes, and a white Art Deco polish for the white stripes.  And all of that is topped with a coat of Sally Hansen Set the Stage gold glitter.

It’s not nearly as good as the original, but I’m happy with it.

My 13 year old couldn’t believe I had done it myself!  hahaha!

I hope you have a fabulous Independence Day!  Stay safe and have fun!

Truly Outrageous! Jem Nails!

Ok, who remembers Jem and the Holograms??

Totally dating myself, I know.

Totally 80’s!

Jem was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid!

This is one coat of Sally Hansen Color Quick Fast Dry Nail Pen in Fuchsia Chrome, topped with one coat of petites Color Fever Pink Diamond Polish (578).

The Sally Hansen nail pens are great for when you need a quick coat of polish that dries almost immediately.  They live fast and die quick, though so you’ll be lucky if they last a whole day without chips.  (This one didn’t.)

Pink Diamond is super saturated mix of pink micro glitter and larger pink glitter bits.

The combination of these two is a bit brighter in person.  It’s so girly and sparkly and (to me) so JEM!

What was your favorite cartoon as a kid?
