Grey Smoke featuring NYC Individualeyes Palette Dark Shadows

Remember that NYC palette I showed you in the video for the Influenster Beauty Bloggers VoxBox?

Here is a look that I wore recently using that palette.

I really liked this look.  A bit of drama, a bit of glam, and alot of smoke!

I did not use the primer in the palette for this look.  I tried that primer a few days ago and it did not work for me at all.  Bummer.  But I have really oily eyelids, so it may work better for others.  The cream highlighter is nice, it blends well and lasts all day, especially with the white shadow layered on top.

For this look I used:

Lauren Brooke Cream Foundation in N3

Lauren Brooke Cream Concealer in Warm Light – under eyes

Lauren Brooke Loose Powder foundation in Natural – lightly applied to set creams

Everyday Minerals Blush in Salon Fun (Discontinued 😦 )

Real Purity Eyeshadow Duo in Vanilla/Mocha – Mocha color – to fill brows

NYC Individualeyes Palette in Dark Shadows for eyes

essence liquid liner in Black  from my swap with lifeofbun – LOVE!

NYC Big Bold Ultra Volume Mascara in Black

Catrice Ultimate Color Lipstick in Frozen Rose  another product I love from lifeofbun

I got about 6 hours of wear before I noticed that the shadows were creasing.  I did  a quick touch-up.  About 3 hours later, I noticed that there was quite a bit of creasing but I was washing my face by that point anyway.

This was a fun palette to try.  The shadows have decent pigmentation and blend nicely.  They are pretty shimmery, but alot of that blends away to leave a nice sheen.

Have a great day!

Review: Sally Girl Eyeshadow Singles

Blue Marine & Olive

A review!!  It’s been a while!

During my trip we made a stop at the local Sally’s Beauty Supply store.  My momma was so sweet to pick these up for me!  (One is never too old to be spoiled by one’s mama!) 🙂

  Thanks, Mom!

Blue Marine is a lovely blue with a faint hint of gold sheen.  The sheen is hard to pick up once the shadow has been applied to the eye, so I would consider this more of a matte.

Olive is a beautiful olive green that also has a golden sheen.  The sheen on this one is a little more noticeable, even after application.

Pros:

  • cruelty free!
  • fun colors
  • blends well
  • CHEAP!!  (a whole big $.99 each!)
  • ability to connect together to build your own palette!

Cons:

  • a little powdery, easy to over-blend
  • needs to be worn with a primer to show colors well

Conclusion:

These little babies are really cute and fun to try for the price.  The pigmentation could be better, but with primer they look great.  They blend easily, sometimes a little too easily.  I found it was easy to over-blend these into oblivion and then have to apply more…..

Applied alone (L) and with primer (R)

The fact that these can be connected together to form a custom palette is PURE GENIUS!!!  I wish more companies would create packaging with that ability!

Sliding together

Eyeshadows connect to make a custom palette!

These are the first Sally Girl products I have tried.  I wish the pigmentation was better, but they are still fun to play around with for the price.

Have you tried any products from Sally Girl?  What are your favorites?

Orange Nails!!

So after this color explosion on my eyelids, I moved to my nails.

This is two coats of Nicole by OPI Fresh Squeezed topped with one coat of Maybelline Colorama Topcoat in Sonic Sunrise.

Both of these polishes were purchased a while back.  Fresh Squeezed was purchased at Target and I found Sonic Sunrise at Big Lots for $1!  Yay!

Here’s you can see the flakies in Sonic Sunrise a little better.

Finally!  My craving for color has been satisfied!  haha!

Do you ever feel like you just have to break out of a rut?

Fun & Colorful Eyeshadow Look

Some days a girl just needs some color.

This was one of those days!

This was done with mineral eyeshadows.  I love how easily they blend!  And look at how vibrant the colors are!

I used these eyeshadow samples that I purchased from the All Natural Face:

Then I used the pressed eyeshadow duo in Vanilla/Mocha from Real Purity as a brow bone highlight and to fill in my brows.

I used the Onyx gel eyeliner from Pixi.

And threw on a couple of coats of L’Oreal False Fiber Mascara.

So was my color craving satisfied?

Nope.  Next came my nails.

Stay tuned for that!

Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Look

Arm swatches can be helpful, but I wanted to show you what the Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Palette looks like in action.  The eyeshadows in this palette are numbered 1-12.

This look features these shadows:

  • #1:  inner corners
  • #3:  brow bone highlight
  • #5:  all over lid
  • #7:  crease & brow fill-in
  • #9:  outer V & liner

This is just one of the many looks possible with this palette!

Purple People Eater!

Do you remember that song?  It’s an oldie, but that’s what I thought of when I saw this color! 🙂

This is two coats of Revlon ColorStay Amethyst (240) topped with a coat of Wet N Wild The Crown is Mine (33827) as an accent on the ring finger and finished off with a layer of Poshe topcoat over everything.  Amethyst is not as blue as it shows in the photos.  It’s a true purple with a slight pink micro shimmer.  This is my first ColorStay polish and I really wanted to love it.  Although the color is beautiful, it goes on so goopy that I’m not sure I’ll buy another.

This photo shows The Crown Is Mine better.  It’s BEAUTIFUL!!!!  Loads of multi color glitter in various sizes, with a pink/purple undertone!  I loves it!!  I think I will be looking for the other colors in this collection as well!

What is your current polish?

GLEE!!

Could there be a better name for this polish? I don’t think so! Every time I look at this color I smile. 🙂

This is my one and only color from Jessie’s Girl but it has me wanting more! I purchased this polished at Rite Aid several months ago, but had forgotten about it until recently when my girls and I were doing our nails together. Glee is a blue based teal color with blue and lime green micro shimmer glitter! LOVE!!! This is two coats Jessie’s Girl Glee and a layer of Poshe Top Coat.

It’s hard to really capture the complexity of this color in photos.

I don’t have a lot of nail art skillz, but my daughter got a little kit for her birthday recently and we decided to try it out. I choose the yellow heart nail gem to add accent to the ring finger. I kinda love it. AAAAAnd…..sometimes I see it out of the corner of my eye and think maybe there is a booger on my finger! O.o But the important thing is that my girls and I had fun together!

Mini Mani's!

Each of my girls painted their own nails (what can I say, they get it from their mama!) and I helped with the nail gems. On the left is Sally Hansen Wavelength and on the right is a no-name pink mini polish that came with the nail kit and Sinful Colors Let’s Meet on the thumb. They were so proud of their finished mani’s! And I have to admit, I was pretty proud of them too! Nothing like girl bonding over polish! 🙂
