Fun & Colorful Eyeshadow Look

Some days a girl just needs some color.

This was one of those days!

This was done with mineral eyeshadows.  I love how easily they blend!  And look at how vibrant the colors are!

I used these eyeshadow samples that I purchased from the All Natural Face:

Then I used the pressed eyeshadow duo in Vanilla/Mocha from Real Purity as a brow bone highlight and to fill in my brows.

I used the Onyx gel eyeliner from Pixi.

And threw on a couple of coats of L’Oreal False Fiber Mascara.

So was my color craving satisfied?

Nope.  Next came my nails.

Stay tuned for that!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Product Review: Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara

Rimmel Grow Lash MascaraI like to try new mascaras, especially when I find them on sale.  Even better if I have a coupon too!  So that’s how I came to own Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara.  This is not a natural product, but a friend had told me that she had tried this and liked it, so I thought I would give it a try.

Pros:

  • Dark black color, darkens lashes nicely
  • Nice size wand – not too big, not too small
  • No clumps

Rimmel Grow Lash Mascara

Cons:

  • No volume
  • Not much length
  • Smudges easily
  • Leaves lashes sticky feeling, and sticking together

Conclusion:

To say this is not my favorite mascara is a bit of an understatement.  Rimmel’s promotional photos with the lovely Zooey Deschanel are fabulous and gave me high hopes, but this just did not work well for me at all.  I did not like how it left my lashes feeling sticky.  I found mascara smudges under my eyes throughout the day.  Yuck!  The package claims that your lashes will be 117% longer if you use this for 30 days.  I couldn’t get past 4 days with this, so I didn’t see any difference.  Different mascaras work better for some people, so if you decide to try this one, maybe you will have better results like Zooey and my friend did.  I have tried other mascaras from Rimmel that I liked, like the Rimmel Sexy Curves, but this is not the one for me.  If you are interested in trying the Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara, you can find it at your local drugstore or at Amazon.com.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Product Review: Nubian Heritage African Black Soap Body Wash

African Black Soap Body Wash

I recently purchased this thinking I was buying a facial cleanser….. I’m not really sure how I thought that, since it clearly says BODY WASH right on the bottle…….Must have gotten distracted, I guess, I don’t know. But after I bought it I re-read the label to make sure that it did not contain sulfates – one of the ingredients I am allergic to. It doesn’t! At least I didn’t get too distracted…..

I have heard good things about using African Black Soap for facial cleansing from different sources for a while but just hadn’t gotten around to trying it out myself. I recently had some breakouts pop up (thank you, Easter candy stash!) And as we all know, breakouts make us look for the “magic” product to fix it, right?? Well, my friends, this may be it!

Some of the key ingredients that caught my attention in this are African black soap (obviously), dead sea salt, and salicylic acid. It looks black in the bottle, but comes out as brown with black bits in it. It’s not rough like a scrub, though.

So let’s break it down, shall we?

Pros:

  • cleanses well-removes makeup completely
  • leaves skin very soft and smooth, not tight or dry feeling
  • natural
  • doesn’t contain sulfates

Cons:

  • fragrance – this contains sandalwood essential oil and the scent is very strong

Conclusion: This stuff is amazing!!!!! My skin looks so glow-y and feels so soft after using this product! It did help clear up the breakouts that I was dealing with and my skin is staying clear!! I wish the scent were more subtle, but for these results, I can deal with it. The Nubian Heritage African Black Soap can be purchased at Amazon.com, but I have also seen other brands of African black soap products at my local Target store.  Overall, I think I will look for other African Black Soap cleansers to try once I run out of this one, just to see how they compare.

Product Review: EcoTools Limited Edition Beautiful Expressions Kabuki Set

When I first heard about these back in October on Nouveau Cheap (LOVE that blog!! Check it out!), I was determined to find them for myself. I am a big fan of Eco Tools brushes! They are affordable, good quality, easy to find, super soft and eco-friendly! What more can you ask for?

What was that?

You want them to be pretty too?

Oh, look!

THEY ARE!!

I loooove the little designs on the handles! These brushes are incredibly soft and easy to work with. Each of these pint-size peanuts are shaped differently for a specific purpose:

Conceal

Conceal – this brush is pointed and very dense. It is great for blending concealer under the eyes, around the nose and other areas that need heavier coverage.

Contour

Contour – this brush has a soft dome shape that is great for applying and blending blush to the cheeks as well as contouring the cheeks, temples and jaw line.

Bronze

Bronze – this angled brush is not as dense as the others, which is exactly what I look for in a bronzing brush! It achieves the sun-kissed-glow look, not the sun-smacked-you-in-the-face look.

Buff

Buff– this little flat top brush is great for applying powder foundation and to set makeup with finishing powder. It gives a fabulously even finish.

All of these brushes are quite small which can be a little awkward at first, but also makes them great for travel. I keep them in my kit in a separate travel soap container.

Ready for travel!

I have washed these babies multiple times and they have not shed one hair!

From the top – Conceal, Contour, Bronze, Buff

These are limited edition so I’m not sure how long they will be available, but I have seen them in my local Walgreens and Kroger affiliate stores just this week, so they’re still out there. They can also be purchased online from Amazon.com.

Conclusion: I love these little bundles of soft, makeup blending, eco-friendly goodness! They retail for $14.99, but I bought these at Target in January when I found them half off! Sweet!! I love a good deal! But even at full price, I think they are a good bargain for great brushes.

What are your favorite brushes??

Product Review: Blissoma Restore Deep Moisture Oil Serum

Last month Blissoma selected people from their Facebook page to receive a deluxe sample of their new Restore Deep Moisture Oil Serum. I was excited to find out that I had been selected to receive one of the samples! I have been using this product for a few weeks and wanted to share my thoughts.

This is not the first facial oil I have used. For years, my standard nighttime moisturizer has been a mixture of 8 drops Argan oil and 2 drops vitamin E oil. But I had noticed this winter that my skin seemed to need something more. I had started layering Weleda Skin Food over my Argan/vit E mix, but even that just didn’t seem quite enough. Once I received my sample of Restore, I used it in place of my regular oil mix at night. My skin seemed to drink in the moisture right away! This did not feel heavy, greasy or sticky on my skin at all. And I have noticed that my skin has not had any of the dry, flaky areas that it did just a few weeks ago!

I was interested to see how my skin would react to the jojoba oil in this product. I have used jojoba oil on my skin in the past and it seemed to cause breakouts. But I am happy to report that I had no reactions or breakouts from this product!!

It does have an herbal-type scent to it. (I am not the best at describing scents….) I do not find this to be an issue, the scent is not strong at all and goes away within minutes after applying.

Pros:

  • all natural
  • super moisturizing
  • soaks in quickly
  • didn’t irritate my skin or cause breakouts

Cons:

Conclusion: I really really like this product. The price tag is a little high, but considering the high quality ingredients and that it seems to last a long time, I think it is worth it – especially for those of us who deal with exceptionally dry skin in the winter.
