This week we made a stop at Big Lots. I enjoy the adventure of shopping there because you just never know what you might find!
I have wanted to get my hands on a glass nail file after I heard that they are better for your nails. How are they better? They create a nice smooth edge to the nail without the pulling or snagging that weakens the nail. My nails are pretty hard, but once they get a bit passed my finger, they tend to rip and snag very easily and it drives me nuts!
This package was labeled “Trendy Tools” and came with two glass nail files in different colors. Both have a protective plastic cover.
I found these in the makeup/cosmetics section. And the best part??
Only $2.80 for TWO!! Cant’ beat that!!
I’ve already used these on my nails and I have to say that I can definitely tell a difference. My nails feel much smoother along the edge. I don’t think I will ever be a long nail kinda gal, but I’m really hoping that this will help keep my nails from ripping and snagging as they grow.
Each Big Lots location seems to have slightly different things in stock, so I’m not sure if you will find these in your area. But if you’re like me and enjoy the thrill of the hunt, it’s worth a stop to look. 🙂
And just in case you missed that, let’s review: ONE COAT!!! Yes, that glitter polish is really all that and a bag of chips!
These Be Jeweled Wet N Wild polishes came out this past spring and are just beautiful! I featured The Crown is Mine from this same collection in this post. They don’t seem to be easy to find anymore, though so check your drugstores or eBay if you are looking for them.
“Many of us love our pretty polished fingers, me included, but what about the natural nails that lurk beneath the enamel? They just don’t get much attention unless we’re prepping them for yet another coat of a lovely lacquer of our choice. I feel it’s time to strip the polish and bare all in a show of solidarity ladies! At least long enough to snap a photo and answer a few questions, I’m not a monster after all. So please join me, show your naturally beautiful nails and share some information about them and the products you prefer to pamper them with.”

Two nail posts in a row! I hope you don’t mind, but with it being the 4th of July and all, I just couldn’t resist.
I first saw this design earlier this week on C to C Friendspirations blog and immediately knew I had to try it for myself.
I didn’t have the exact polishes used, so I just worked with what I have.
I should mention that I am not a nail-art-extraordinaire by any means, but this looked easy enough even for a rookie like me.
This is one coat of Sally Hansen Glass Slipper as a base. With Revlon Frankly Scarlet for the red stripes, Sally Hansen Through the Blue for the blue stripes, and a white Art Deco polish for the white stripes. And all of that is topped with a coat of Sally Hansen Set the Stage gold glitter.
It’s not nearly as good as the original, but I’m happy with it.
My 13 year old couldn’t believe I had done it myself! hahaha!
I hope you have a fabulous Independence Day! Stay safe and have fun!
The Sally Hansen nail pens are great for when you need a quick coat of polish that dries almost immediately. They live fast and die quick, though so you’ll be lucky if they last a whole day without chips. (This one didn’t.)
Pink Diamond is super saturated mix of pink micro glitter and larger pink glitter bits.
The combination of these two is a bit brighter in person. It’s so girly and sparkly and (to me) so JEM!
